Top Gun: Maverick is a 2022 American action drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski. It was written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer and Christopher McQuarrie from a story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks. The sequel to Top Gun (1986) stars Tom Cruise as Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a test pilot alongside Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glenn Powell, Louis Pullman, Ed Harris and Val Kilmer. Cruise and Kilmer reprise their roles from the first film, and the film is dedicated to Top Gun director Tony Scott, who died in 2012.
Plot:
Test pilot Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell deliberately avoided promotion to continue flying after 36 years of service. One day, at the behest of his former rival, Admiral Tom “The Iceman” Kazansky, Commander of the Pacific Fleet, Maverick is called on a special mission to train a group of Top Gun graduates for a special mission. Among them is Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, son of Maverick’s late friend and RIO Nick “Goose” Bradshaw.
